To track sent email read/ unread status in Gmail, we use a tool named Hubspot Sales, which allows you to track read or unread status of 200 emails before upgrading to paid version.

How to install “track sent email status” feature in Gmail
Step 1: Open this link to install the add-on HubSpot Sales. Click Add to Chrome >> click Add unility to confirm installation of add-ons.
Step 2: After having installed the add-on HubSpot Sales, you will be moved to the registration page for using a HubSpot Sales account. Enter the necessary information for registration.
Note: It is not necessary to use the email address that you want to track sent email status to sign up for HubSpot Sales.
Step 3: After you’ve installed the add-on and signed up for Sales HubSpot, when accessing to Gmail, you’ll be asked if you want to enable HubSpot Sales or not? Hit the Enable button.
Step 4: Click Got it to continue
Step 5: Now, every time you send a new email, there will be an adding option which is Tracking sent email by HubSpot Sales (bottom right corner of the compose email box). You simply need to tick on this option to know if the sent email is read or not.
To track sent emails, please access this link and sign in your HubSpot Sales account that you’ve registered. Emails that are opened will be notified Opened, and the others will be Not opened.
Some simple tricks to “recall” a sent email
Sometimes, after hitting “Send” and email, then you suddenly realized that there was a mistake. You worried that the receiver might misunderstand the content of your email. In this case, you should use these two simple tricks to “recall” those sent emails.
Readers can use MS Outlook, which has been integrated into the Microsoft Office software suites. This app provides “Recall” feature, which allows you to “recall” sent emails.
To use this feature, go to the “Sent email” folder and open the Message window that you’d like to resend, then click on Office (File Menu). After that, you move to Info tab and select the Message Resend and Recall item.
Click mouse on Resend or Recall then select Recall This Message feature in the menu below. Next, select Delete unread copies of the message to delete the copy of the unread message or Delete unread copies and replace with a new message to delete the unread message and replace it by the new one.
Then you select the Tell me if recall succeeds or fails for each recipient so that the program will notify you if the messages recall succeeds or not. After your selection, press the OK button to apply.
In addition, there is a feature that many Gmail users should know called “Undo Send“.
To use this feature you must log in your Gmail account and go to the Settings card, then you enable the “Undo Send” function in Gmail Labs by selecting Enable.
Once this feature is enabled, the “Undo” option will appear after the user clicks mailing. However, users have only 5 seconds to click on “Cancel” button to cancel the previous command and recover the e-mail which was being sent. After those 5 seconds, the recovery of emails in Gmail will not be done.
